I designed a production and foraging garden and studio space for an artist who creates naturally-dyed textiles in the Southwest. The gardens are organized by water needs and plant relationships. Flexible and open spaces surrounding the courtyard allow the artist to work fluidly indoors and outdoors. The garden is designed with reciprocity in mind. Reciprocity is the exchange of mutual benefits amongst subjects that depend equally upon one another. This concept embraces the mutualism of interconnected systems and spaces, both ecological and human.
